Recycled Goblin Treat Bag – Halloween Art Project
Level: Easy
Time: 1 hour or less
Let’s say it’s Halloween Day. The big event for the kids is tonight and you realize you forgot treat bags. Make them from recycled materials you probably already have at home. And the best part…this less than an hour project doubles as some fun creativity time with the kids.
Choose Recycled Grocery Bags |
You will need: Two large Paper Supermarket bags with Handles, a pair of Scissors, glue sticks and glue gun, markers and Imagination!
Supplies from Home |
First, carefully remove the handles from the paper bags. They come off pretty easily if you slide an envelope opener under their seal.
Remove Handles from Bags |
Place one bag inside the other. Be sure to tuck corners together with the bottom bag.
Cut small 1 inch folding points at each of the four corners. Fold edges of bag over twice so that they hang down at all four sides. Scroll the edges using a flat object like a book to press them down forming a neat edge all the way around the rim of the bag.
Fold sides to make Goblin head and body |
The fourth step is to decorate the handles and flaps of the bag. Create a Goblin by marking eyes on one of the end flaps. Use markers to accentuate the eyes and add a body to the Goblin by drawing on the bag under the flap.
Decorate the Flaps and Handles |
With the glue gun attach the handles to the insides of the long edges of the bag.
Make a Goblin Face |
Glue Handles to Inside of Bag |
Voila, your Goblin is ready to Trick or Treat! Have a fun, safe Halloween knowing you’ve also saved a tree in the meantime. Happy Halloween!
